About

2023 Lafayette Civic Cup Honoree

I was born in Abbeville in 1950 and grew up in Rayne, Louisiana .  I married my high school sweetheart, Cindi Moody. We have 3 children  Scott (1970-1992), Neil and Shelley along with a son-in-law, Dr Boo Cestia.  Shelley and Boo are parents to our much loved grandchildren Blair, Zach, Mia and Clay.

In Rayne, I attended St Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School and graduated from Rayne High School in 1968.  Cindi and I moved to Lafayette where we both attended USL.  I finished with a BS in Accounting in 1972.

In 1973, I became a CPA and practiced accounting for 25 years starting with Eugene Darnall.  I went to having my own firm and retired as a Partner with Broussard, Poche, Lewis and Breaux in 1997.

My years as a CPA, primarily in business consulting and tax, gave me a background to enter into several business ventures.

In 1998 I formed RR Company of America, LLC, with Robert Gagnard, formerly of Marksville, now a resident of San Diego CA. I’m the Managing Member/CEO of RR Company, which has been our holding company and still exists today.

RR Company developed, owned and operated blood plasma collection centers across the US.   RR Company also developed multiple commercial properties.  In 1996, I joined Robert Daigle in the development of River Ranch and Southern Lifestyle Development Co, which developed several other mixed use and residential developments in Louisiana, as well as other southern states.  My real estate development and plasma businesses allowed me to build a new building for the Community Foundation of Acadiana on Camellia Blvd which we donated to them in 2009.

In 2002, RR Company partnered with The Moody Company to open the City Club at River Ranch and after several years of a successful partnership, RR Company purchased the Moody Company ownership of the City Club.

In 2011, RR Company formed the Double R Restaurant Group which owned Pour, Romacelli’s and several Another Broken Egg Café’s in the southern United States.  RR Company sold its interest in the restaurants in 2019 and 2020.

After we sold our last operating plasma company in 2010, I decided it was time to “give back” to the community that has given so much to me and my family.  I was asked by Hank and Lenny to join them in developing Moncus Park.  In that meeting  I said to myself “these guys are always doing something to help our community and it’s people, it’s now my turn to do so!”.  I am still involved in the Park’s development and Cindi and I donated The Savoy Family Treehouse to the Park.

I believe everyone needs a good education and I’m a supporter of both public and private schools.  Our University is one of our largest assets in Lafayette and continues to educate many of the leaders in our community.  We have been a donor of the residential lot to Love Ours Schools home giveaway program, as well as the ACE Scholarship program to assist with tuition for families who are in need.

I have been on the Board of the Community Foundation for several years, and I’m presently on the Board of Moncus Park and Love Our Schools serving on the Finance and Investment Committees of each and Treasurer of Love Our Schools.
