Doris Mae Bienvenu Excellence in Music Fund
Mrs. Doris Mae Bienvenu touched the hearts of all her music students in so many ways, for so many years.
Extraordinary stories about her are heartwarming, numerous, and bring smiles, laughter, and sometimes tears. She was an excellent choral director, and a loving, kind, gentle person.
Her former students established the Doris Mae Bienvenu Excellence in Music Award Fund, a fund of Community Foundation of Acadiana, to recognize her contribution to her students and to honor her exemplary career as a music and choral teacher. Her students have pledged a matching donation of $5000, which means they will match dollar-for-dollar your donation to the Fund.
The Fund will provide resources to the Choral Department at Lafayette High, which will be used to make an annual monetary award to a Lafayette High School senior, at graduation, in honor of Doris Mae Bienvenu. The award will assist a student with furthering his/her education.
The recipient will be chosen according to their overall contribution to the Choral Music Department, their integrity, character, and love of Music.
Through this Fund, Doris' legacy will live on because she was one in a million!
