The purpose of the LAGCOE Future Energy Professionals Scholarship Fund is to encourage post secondary education in the fields of science, technology, engineering or math to create a positive impact on the future of the energy industry.


2019 LAGCOE FEP Scholarship Application

Important Application Details

Eligible students applying for the LAGCOE Future Energy Professionals Scholarship must complete the electronic scholarship application below. You must review the application checklist prior to beginning the the scholarship application process. To prevent delays in completing your application, it is recommended that you view the checklist below and have all of the required materials completed. This will allow you to finish and submit your scholarship application without delay. Scholarship applications cannot be saved.

2. Written Essay

Click here to download your essay document. Your completed essay must be handwritten using the document provided. Your completed essay should be between 400-600 words. You must answer the following questions below when writing your essay.

  • Describe your vision for your career path.
  • Include in the essay where you see yourself working and living following graduation.
  • Include your personal qualities and life experiences that will be most beneficial in helping you to reach your goals

3. Letters of Recommendation

You will need two letters of recommendation prior to completing your scholarship application. Click here to download the Letters of Recommendation document that can be sent to those you are seeking a recommendation from.

The letter of reference is a required component of the scholarship application and will be used by the Scholarship Selection Committee to determine the best candidate to receive the scholarship. The applicant should have attended the 2019 LAGCOE Show, participated in the Future Energy Professionals program and plans to attend an accredited Louisiana College or University pursuing a STEM-centric degree program. The individual recommending the student should be a teacher or professional in the STEM field who can speak to specific academic and personal traits, and extracurricular activities.

4. High School Transcript

A copy of your high school transcript should be submitted with your application. If your transcript will not be available before the application deadline on March 13, 2020, please read the Application Instructions document for further instructions.

Application Deadline

Your scholarship application, the handwritten essay, your two letters of recommendations, and your high school transcript must be received before or on Friday, March 13, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted.
