Lafayette, LA–- In honor of its 10th Anniversary, Community Foundation of Acadiana announces the DONORSense® Grant Competition, a grant cycle from the Foundation's "Spirit of Acadiana” discretionary fund, to begin September 8th through October 15th. The Foundation will grant a total of $30,000 to local nonprofits who can illustrate a project planned to creatively impact and improve Acadiana's quality of life. A maximum grant of $5,000 will go to each nonprofit. The Foundation committed its first discretionary dollars from its Spirit of Acadiana Fund for the direct benefit of the community, and, over the past 10 years it has granted up to $20 million back into the community under the direction of its donors. Winners will be announced during a Philanthropy Week event in November 2010. The event is sponsored in part by Business First Bank.

Applicants are required to have completed DONORSense®(http://www.donorsense.org/) profiles. By requiring DONORSense® profiles, the Foundation can continue to build its database and provide comprehensive information on Acadiana nonprofits so that donors can make effective giving decisions – all nonprofit information in one website.
