Community Foundation of Acadiana offers eight broad fund structures that can be uniquely and specifically tailored to meet any individual donor’s giving needs and wishes.
- function much like a family or corporate foundation. You may contribute when it is most convenient and may recommend gifts over time to non profits or to support causes, issues, projects or anything else of your choice. You can select the name for your fund. Children and grandchildren can also be involved if you wish, creating a family legacy and tradition of giving. Tax advantages are usually better than those of a family foundation.
- provide support to specific charitable organizations you designate.
- allow you to support areas of charitable interest you specify, broadly or narrowly defined. Examples include funds that support “education,” or “voice music training,” or specific geographical areas.
- for worthy students in particular institutions, fields of study or geographic regions. You can help select recipients or you can name an advisory committee.
- contain endowment assets or special project funds for other non profits, managed by Community Foundation of Acadiana.
- are best suited to meet emerging needs or opportunities in the community. You place no restrictions on how these funds are used and decisions are left to our board of directors. These funds are the most timeless in terms of community impact.
- are attractive alternatives to the private foundation if you want to retain some legal control over the operations of the foundation, its assets or the disposition of funds.
- are established so that you can leave a portion of your estate to support one or more charitable organizations or causes. Funded by planned gifts, these funds assure that your legacies are maintained and your charitable objectives are satisfied beyond your lifetime.
Community Foundation of Acadiana named funds and underlying assets are governed by an independent Board of Directors made up of local citizens chosen for their knowledge of and commitment to community needs and professional expertise.
