Community Foundation of Acadiana announces DonorSense

With the help of a $25,000 grant awarded by the Hewlett Foundation, Community Foundation of Acadiana is pleased to announce the implementation of DonorSense.

DonorSense is an online software tool that focuses on providing information about local nonprofits within the Acadiana region. Its main objective is to help donors understand the current facts and needs of nonprofit organizations in order to connect them with the things they care most about. Nonprofit profiles are created through a process of self-assessment by the organization. The profiles focus on key components to educate donors in order to maximize their philanthropic investments.

DonorSense will serve as a liaison between donors and nonprofits providing a secure and effective tool to aid in the philanthropic process. DonorSense will be populated with area nonprofit data and operational for community use in the spring of 2010.

NEXT STEPS
DonorSense is an online self-entry process.  You will enter information about your organization's programs, needs, board, history, etc.  Community Foundation of Acadiana will verify and enter portions of the financial information.  In order to complete the financial section, we will request 990s or audited financial statements from the previous three years. Note that audits are preferred.

DonorSense coaches are available to support you throughout the profile process.  Generally, we require that you complete your profile within 3 to 5 weeks of receiving a request.  Profiles can take up to 4-6 hours of staff time to complete. Workshops and one-on-one trainings are available to familiarize you with the DonorSense system.  Currently workshops are scheduled at the Foundation office periodically.  Contact Katherine McCormick if you are interested in receiving assistance completing your profile.

*Note that a profile must be complete and reviewed by the Community Foundation before it is made viewable to the public. Once a profile is created, it may be updated as often as desired, with a minimum requirement of once a year to maintain Foundation Reviewed status.
