Dear NAIFA Family,

Hurricane Harvey inflicted devastating flooding and destruction in parts of Texas and Louisiana. The horrible images we have seen from the Houston area and the Gulf Coast have affected us deeply and left us wondering what we can do to help.

Many of our friends and colleagues are bearing Harvey’s impacts directly. Insurance and financial advisors across the region are dealing with flooded homes and businesses as well as property losses.

The NAIFA Hurricane Relief Fund was originally established in 2005 following Hurricane Katrina to assist insurance professionals affected by Gulf Coast hurricanes. NAIFA has reactivated the fund to provide assistance to our colleagues impacted by Harvey. It provides an opportunity for agents and advisors to help each other in a time of great need. NAIFA is giving $10,000 as an initial contribution to the fund.

The Fund is operated by the Community Foundation of Acadiana (CFA), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization in Louisiana. All donations are tax deductible and may be made directly to CFA, not to NAIFA. All grants will be distributed by CFA. A committee of NAIFA volunteers and executives from Texas and Louisiana will establish certain parameters for the program.
