The Foundation believes philanthropists transform and sustain the quality of life in our communities. As the neutral convener, the Foundation can bring resources in the community together for greater and more far-reaching impact.
Community Foundation of Acadiana played an instrumental role in the recovery process after the Hurricanes of 2005 (Katrina and Rita) and 2008 (Gustav and Ike), by granting over $11.5M to organizations and individuals.
Fiscal Sponsorships allow corporations, groups, and individuals to raise tax-deductible contributions for charitable projects, without having to go through the time and expense of creating a nonprofit entity.
Community Foundation of Acadiana in partnership with Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors (RPA) granted almost $3 million dollars to 18 nonprofits throughout Acadiana to benefit communities marginalized by the 2010 BP Oil Spill. RPA selected CFA as a regional partner, because of its expertise in community and regional needs and knowledge in grant making, to re-grant dollars entrusted to RPA by an anonymous donor. CFA established the Fund for Gulf Communities (FFGC) from which grants were made to organizations in Acadiana.
The Horse Farm is a collaborative effort between Community Foundation of Acadiana, University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and Lafayette Consolidated Government to dedicate nearly 100 acres of university property on Johnston Street for the development of a passive public park, preserving its natural beauty for use as walking trails, bike paths, gardens, and green space.
